Last weekend was the Bridal Extravaganza that Weddings of Georgia puts on every year. I found out 5 days before the show that I had a spot at the show. Needless to say, since I hadn’t heard anything I didn’t plan for the show. So I had 5 days to design and build the booth that I was wanting to do. I also had to finish up my website that had been under construction forever and then design some type of marketing materials that I could pass out to potential clients. Fortunately, I was able to get everything done, but at the cost of my sleep. I slept 12 hours from Tuesday to Sunday. I’m still recovering.
This was my quick visit to Home Depot to pick up some supplies.

I initially planned on putting the walls together at my house but my dad was at home that day and offered to help so I took all the materials to his house and built the whole set there.

The walls were built with 8 foot 2×4′s and 1/4″ mdf board. The board was 4×8 feet so we built the walls to the size of the board.

For the base board we went ahead and nailed it to the walls sections.

All four of the wall sections built.

All wall sections assembled.

Adding the paint.

And the final product…..
A couch, carpet, two tables, frames, and a couple lamps finished off this design. We also added crown molding that is added as separate pieces during setup.
On the tables, I also have two digital pictures frames and a 15″ Macbook pro hoooked up to a new 24″ Apple LED display (this pictures look AMAZING on this display).

And then for marketing materials to pass out, I decided to create a slideshow that I burned onto DVDs and added custom labels. I also had some cards created with some of my images and my website address.
I’ve learned so much since starting this photography business last year and I truly feel in my heart that I have found my passion in life. It’s funny how we tend to try and move God into our own direction in life instead of allowing God to move us into the journey that he has set forth for us. I have alot to tell of what has happened in my life that led me into this journey, but way too much for me to type out; especially at 3 a.m. while getting ready for the upcoming Bridal Extravaganza this Sunday at the Trade Center.
I am busting my tail trying to get everything together for this show and it is exhausting every bit of energy that my overweight and out-of-shape body can handle. So I really hope that this ends up being worth my time.
One of the things that I am going to be doing at the show is passing out DVDs of my highlights from 2008. So of course I have to show everyone b/c I’m quite proud of what I’ve accomplished in my first year. Granted, I haven’t become this crazy superstar rookie photographer but I’m sure gonna try and head in that direction in the upcoming years.
So with all that said, check out my video highlights show of my 2008 weddings.
(By the by, I have left off the images of my last wedding for 2008 b/c of the recent passing of the bride from that wedding. I really don’t want to post anything yet of this wedding until I talk with the family; so hopefully soon I will be able to share those images. And with that said, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE say a prayer for her family and especially her husband.)

A couple weeks back, Shalon’s cousin, Brandy, asked me to photograph her newborn baby, Anslee. She wanted to have a picture or two to put on a christmas card. So if you know me well enough, you know that I don’t usually take pictures of babies but since this was Shalon’s cousin, I figured why not.
Afterwards, I have to say that it wasn’t so bad. Maybe this will be something that I offer in the near future. Maybe. :)
So here are just a few of that session:

Tonight, I was uploading some pictures and since I’m still doing some work on my PC desktop, it was going to take a little time to complete. So while I waited, I decided to take my tripod and my camera outside and try out some slow shutter images. I also grabbed my flashlight to try and do some light painting. It was complete dark outside except the faint glow of light in the sky from Columbus. I remember my Astronomy professor calling it “light pollution” since you couldn’t see the star through the haze of brightness.
I didn’t stay out long but I do have a few images to show.
With this image, I swiftly painted the trees with my flashlight to brighten up the darkened areas.
With my shutter at 20 seconds, I just painted a heart shape really slowly to allow the sensor to pick up the light. Nothing too exciting but still fun to play with. I love how the low moving clouds looks at 15 and 20 second shutter speeds.
