The Christmas Tree

So we have sort of a new tradition and that is that on the day or two after Thanksgiving, we put up the christmas tree.  So today was that day.

I didn’t take any images during the tree decorating but I did get some after we finished.

We have a small house and lots of stuff.  These two scenarios don’t make for alot of room inside the walls.  So we have had to get creative on how we decorate and move stuff around.  So for the christmas tree, we decided that since we don’t use the front door much (we use the garage as our main entrance), we would just setup the tree in the foyer.  It’s perfect because it’s sort of out of the way and it has plenty of room for the tree.

Also a couple years back Shalon and I had gone to Macy’s, the day after Christmas, and we loaded up on some AWESOME white ornaments that they were practicly giving away.  I absolutely LOVE special deals and what better way to rack up on christmas ornaments than the day after Christmas.  So we started out with an entirely white Christmas tree the first year that we used those ornaments and since then have incorporated a few maroonish colored bulbs and a ribbon/bow instead of a star or angel at the top.

I know you probably don’t care about all that but with Shalon and I being newly married, getting rid of all the decorations that were handed down to us and starting with new decorations was a big deal for us.

OK.. so with that said, check out our tree!!

Thanksgiving Fun

Every Thanksgiving, we go to Shalon’s family lunch and then head to my parents for an early dinner.  This year we actually arrived earlier than expected to my parents house so we had ALOT of time to hangout till dinner was ready.  So what better time to get some pictures right?  :)

We took Jadon outside and got some pictures of him throwing leaves and having a great time.  I also got Shalon to pose for me so I could experiment with some settings and flash techniques.  It may be a couple days before I get her pictures up but for now, here are a couple of Jadon throwing some leaves.  These are my favorite.

seniorSession: Britney [teaser]

My seniorSession with Britney turned out to be longer than expected but we all had a good time driving around Columbus, and taking some great pictures.  Britney’s mom, dad and sister all accompanied her on this journey and since they were their, I put em to work.  :)    So I pulled out two reflectors and a wireless flash on a monopod and had them holding, turning, moving, backing up, moving forward, and everything else that I could think of.

We all had fun and I everyone was so mellow and really making it easy for me to work.  It also gave me a chance to try out some different shots and angles.

So here is one image from the seniorSession that I had with Britney.  I’m hoping to have more up soon.

weddingSession: Deborah and Jeremy [teaser]

Deborah and Jeremy are friends of Shalon and I from several years back and at last minute I was approached to photograph their wedding.  Of course I accepted.  :)

They were married at the Log Cabin in Phenix City, AL and it was another dark wedding for me since the ceremony didn’t start till after sunset.  But as I always do, I did my best to go without flash and hopefully soon I will be able to show what I was able to capture.

Here is just one image that I liked from Deborah and Jeremy’s weddingSession.

lifestyleSession: Horne Family

I really good of friend of mine from high school, Wayne, asked me to do some family pictures for him so of course I couldn’t say no.  Wayne and Shanda have an awesome little boy name Ethan and he is all boy.  Loves to play and loves to explore.

For this session, we met up at Callaway Gardens and found a few spots that turned out great for the pictures.  This was my second session there that day so I was able to hang out at Callaway pretty much all day.  And with all the lights setup for Fantasy in Lights, it reminded me so much of when I used to work there during high school.  I went to Harris County High School and it was only about 5 minutes from Callaway so of course when it came time for me to get a job, that would be the place that I wanted to work.

So here is a good load of images from Wayne and Shanda’s session at Callaway.

And if you haven’t figured it out yet, I LOVE sun flares!!   :)

Ethan has the bluest eyes I have ever seen.
