seniorSession ~ Alekz

Alekz was so much fun to photograph.  I just love hearing the plans that these kids make for their futures.  Sometimes makes me wish I could go back and jump into photography at an earlier age.  And golf.  And guitars. And so on.  So Alekz has awesome plans to be a journalist or reporter and I think she’d be perfect for the job.  She is super smart and very athletic.  How does someone go to school, carry a part-time job, play softball, volleyball, soccer, and stay involved in FBLA and student government roles.  You have to be rockin with some organizational skills to take on this much.  But she’s doing it.  And all while staying in the top 5 of her class in academics.  Just crazy.

Go back 10 years and you’d probably find me closer to the lower 5 in my class.  Grades weren’t my best achievements in life but only because I spent more time and effort trying to just get by.  Man, the things I would change.

OK.. so to the pictures…

Cason’s First Birthday

This past Sunday, Britt and Jennifer had a party for their one year old son, Cason.  It was held at Cascade Hills Church where they attend services.  This church has an awesome play area for kids.  I don’t know who had more fun, the kids or the dads.  Of course the moms were all sitting around chatting and watching as the dads played like kids on the HUGE slide.

Cason dug DEEP into that cake and it was what every parent would want to see when they place a ‘ready to demolish’ cake in front of their one year old.  I only had a few images from this day but here a few of my favorites.

Doyle Dykes in Auburn

Last night my friend Britt and I drove to Auburn to the Guitar Shoppe to see Doyle Dykes.  Doyle has been my long time guitar hero.  This guy is amazing.  He was a youth pastor down in Florida and moved into playing  guitar professionally.  He is probably one of the best fingerpickers around.  It was so cool to hear his stories of him playing with Eric Johnson, Chet Atkins, and a slew of other awesome guitar players.  He plays the Grand Ole Oprey like 2 or 3 times a year.  Unbelievable that I was able to see him in person and shake his hand.  I don’t get giddy over movie stars or other famous people but man when I see someone with THAT much talent, I get giddy.  It’s like I want his skill to somehow transfer to me so I can play like that.  Maybe one day when I have time to practice more, I’ll be able to play like that.  So I wish I had brought my video camera to record him playing but for now you’ll just have to make do with these images (what a perfect time to have the new Canon 5D; I could have taken video and stills).

Oh and he started playing a custom made Taylor Guitar (the Doyle Dykes edition) that has a rose on the headstock.  That is his symbol b/c of an awesome story of when his young doughter had asked God for a white rose, and a couple days later, while Doyle was playing this small church, and elderly lady came up to him with a white rose and said that God had told her to give this to him.  AMAZING!  God is awesome in all his wonder and I got crazy chills when he told that story.

Another fan of Doyle (actually two of them) had brought their Taylor guitars to the show and decided to get Doyle to autograph them.  Now I have a Taylor Koa K-14 and I like Doyle Dykes but I just don’t think that I would have him sign my guitar.  Maybe it’s just me.  Not much into signatures.  I do like pictures though.. :)

And speaking of signatures, my buddy, Britt got a free pack of Elixir strings for asking a question so he got Doyle to sign his strings box… haha…  gotta love fans.  :)

Tuesday’s Bridal Session

Tuesday is a very good friend of mine that graciously allowed me to shoot a bridal session with her.

I had invited a group of photographer friends that I recently met and decided to turn this into a group shoot.  We had a blast.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and Tuesday was very open to our suggestions.  A gorgeous girl, a beautiful dress, and some awesome photographers make for a great photo shoot.

Hopefully I will be able to get up a slideshow with all of the images but for now here are couple that I was able to capture yesterday.
